Cause of Accident	Broken coupling and collision
Description	Heavily loaded excursion train returning from Hull was split into two trains. Some passengers were travelling on the roof. As the front train was approaching Swinton, a coupling broke, the rear section rolled back and was hit by the second train. The victim was thrown from the roof of the train and broke his neck.
