Cause of Accident	Signalman error
Description	Changes were being made to the interlocking in the signal box. The signalman pulled the wrong lever and diverted an up express train into a goods train that was standing on the down line. In mitigation, the signalman was inadaquately briefed on the consequences of the work being carried out.
