Description | The 7.10 p.m. through freight train from Workington to Bankfield (Liverpool) was loaded with depth charges. The locomotive crew noticed a fire on the train, stopped and uncoupled part of the train, drew forward. The fireman went forward to protect the opposite track and as the driver was walking back to uncouple the burning wagon, it exploded. |
